Bello Machre Awarded $10,000 Grant from Bank of America to Support Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD: Bello Machre is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to welcome four adults into one of its new wheelchair-accessible homes.

“We partner with nonprofits that provide basic human services, such as healthcare and housing in order to connect individuals in our community to the resources they need to lead financially stable lives,” said David Millman, Maryland and Baltimore market president, Bank of America. “This grant will allow Bello Machre to continue to support the day-to-day needs of adults with developmental disabilities in the Greater Baltimore community.”

Currently, there are 8,000 people with developmental disabilities in Maryland on the waiting list for services. Of those people, 1,274 are in crisis prevention and are in need of immediate services due to an aging caregiver or unstable living situation

“The need for services for people with developmental disabilities has exploded,” Dr. Robert T. Ireland, President and CEO of Bello Machre stated. “Thanks to the support and generosity of the Bank of America, Bello Machre can continue to open new doors and reach out to so many in need.”

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation announced $258,500 in grants to 21 nonprofits in the Baltimore area addressing critical needs, such as hunger and shelter, to longer term solutions that promote financial stability through access to benefits and resources.
